The Flamingos were a group of singers from the United States that have had a great success in the 50s and 60s. The Flamingos were firstly formed in 1952 in the city of Chicago. They started by singing in a church choir but after they already knew by heart all the melodies of jewish hymns they decided to start a band of their own that sang pop and r&b. The members of the band were : Jake Carey, Zeke Carey, Paul Wilson and Johnny Carter. The Swallows was the first name they came up with, then they change it into Five Flamingos, and finally they settled to just The Flamingos. They were seen as one of the greatest vocal groups back in those times but today they are still remembered so they are a great part of the music history around the world. They had made many hits and beautiful songs that weren`t so appreciated but unfortunately none reached the nationals. Most of their songs were classified as classics and never reached the highest peak.

Their success appeared after they decided to sign with George Goldner's End Records in New York City. Their sound was modified meaning they had a new rhythm, they added some other musical elements and so some of their new songs became national hits. Their first pop chart song was Lovers Never Say Goodbye. After this great success they became famous and more and more people started listening to their songs. What followed after their first hit was another great song that appeared on the pop charts entitled I Only Have Eyes for You. This song has also had a great success as being used in movies as a soundtrack as well as in many tv shows that played it during live transmissions.

Also other hits were : "Mio Amore", Your Other Love, Nobody Loves Me Like You , I Was Such a Fool, Love Walked In and Time Was. They didn`t last for too long because of the British band invasion. Even though they weren`t so popular anymore they still continued to play and to do what they loved. After many years and the deaths of two of the band members Terry Johnson still remained faithful to the band.

Lovers Never Say Goodbye by The Flamingos is a love song , singed with the soul that has touched many people during the years. The verses are sad and in the same time hopeful. They talk about love and the fact that true love is always hard to find. The lyrics in the song are deep and they come from the heart, that`s why they have had such good reviews. In the end, the motto oldies but goldies was not invented for nothing. Back then the blues songs were blues songs and ballads were ballads. In today`s society, music is just noise. Romantic is the word that best describes those times, and it`s indeed a great song that`s worth listening to.
